Event Format

Each Team must consist of:

·        3 men or

·        3 women

a reserve member can be assigned

The event takes the form of a timed team relay

Heats

The event will be run in a number of heats on Saturday 5th October.  You will be notified on the day of the competition as to which heat / lane you are in.

Finals

There will be a semi final on the morning of Sunday 6th October.  The Grand Finals will run on the Sunday afternoon

Discipline Rules & Regulations

The Clock will start when the team begins the first discipline.  The clock will continue running throughout the relay and will only stop when the last team member crosses the finishing line.

The fastest overall time wins.

Each discipline will be undertaken as a team.  The distance of a particular discipline will be completed as a team; each team member must perform a distance whereby the total sum of the 3 reaching the required distance. 

A minimum distance has been set and every member must cover this.  The team determines the remaining distance covered by each member.  Each team member does not have to cover the same distance. 

Each team must register individual’s set distance for the treadmill, bike and row.  All other disciplines can be completed as the team feels on the day.  Competitors can vacate and revisit the discipline. 

Each team member will perform the treadmill, bike and row at the same time.  All other disciplines will be performed separately.

Once each discipline distance has been reached, the team may then proceed to the next discipline.  Under no circumstance can a team member start the next discipline before the last team member has finished a preceding discipline.

There will be a short run between each discipline station.

Treadmill

Competitors will start standing on the treadmill.  The clock will start for each team when the first team member starts the run. 

Individual distances will be programmed into the treadmill by the competitor at the start of the relay.  Incline will be programmed before the speed (an incline of 3%).  Speed will be determined by each individual competitor and can be changed throughout the discipline. 

Rope Climb

To be performed by one member at a time. There will be no knot at the bottom of the rope.

Sit Ups

To be performed by one member at a time.

Feet can be held or supported by team members.  Finger tips on ear lobes.  Elbows facing forward.  Knees at 90°.  Both Elbows must touch both knees at top.  A side touch will not be counted.  Shoulders must touch at bottom.  Hips must not jump on and off bench as exercise is executed.

Pull Ups (Chins)

To be performed by one member at a time.

Will be performed on a ProSeries Chin & Dip machine, No assistance.  Chin must clear the bar at the top.  At the bottom eyes must be in line with elbows.

Upright Bike

The LifeFitness bike xxx will be used.  The distance will be set by competitor.  The bike will be set in race mode.  The rpm can be changed throughout.  Marshal will preset seat for each individual.  There will be no facility to use cleated shoes.  Standing or sitting stances are allowed at any time. 

Chest Press

Chest Press will be performed on a xxxx.  A marker will be placed on the bar, this marker must contact the chest and arms lock out at top for that rep to be valid.  The only part of the body that must remain in contact with the bench is the head, shoulder blades and hips.  Chalk, Gloves and wrist straps may be used. 

Semi’s & Finals: each team member can select their designated weight.  Any weight can be used.  The weight must be registered before the start of the relay.

Bench Jumps

The ‘Step’ will be used.  The competitors will have their hands placed on tops of the ‘Step’ and will push off with their legs.  Competitors’ hands must remain in contact with the front half of the ‘step’ at all times.  A rep counts as once over the bench.  Both feet must touch the floor on each landing for that rep to count.

Shoulder Press

Shoulder Press will be performed on a xxxxx.  The bar must be bought in front of the head, will pass a mark in line with the jaw and arms must lock out for the rep to be counted as valid.  Chalk, Gloves and wrist straps may be used. 

Semi’s & Finals: each team member can select their designated weight.  Any weight can be used.  The weight must be registered before the start of the relay.

Row

Any fan setting is allowed.  Competitor will preset the designated distance.  Damper will be preset by marshal.

Weight Carry

Each team member must carry a pair of dumbbells, either together or singularly; pairing of the weights is not essential.  One member at a time will perform the weight carry, the next can not start until the previous member has crossed the line.  They must be carried and not pushed or rolled across the floor.  Team members will run or walk 10m to the finishing line; the dumbbells must be placed over the finishing line.  When the last team member cross the line, the total relay time will be recorded.  Chalk, gloves and wrist straps may be used

Event Rules & Regulations

Reserves
Reserve member cannot be introduced once a team has started the SuperTeams Relay.  The reserve member can be bought in for the Semi Finals on the Sunday morning however they can only bought in for the Grand Final on Sunday if a verified injury occurs.

Team members may only register / compete for one team throughout the whole tournament. 

Open to any competitor of any standard.

Qualification:

Semi Finals:  the top 20 teams both male and female from the heats or times over a pre-decided time

Grand Finals:  the top 5 teams, or times over a pre-decided time.

Earrings must not be worn.

Team score sheets will be filled out and signed by the captain.  Failure to do this before the start of the relay will result in team elimination.
